Greenwich Revisited

On Friday, a couple friends and I went back to Greenwich to hit some of the spots we didn't have time for on our tour.  We hiked up the HUGE hill to the Royal Observatory, where you can stand on the Prime Meridian.  Unknowingly, we stumbled upon park of the Olympic Park at Greenwich on our way up to the observatory!  These grounds were used for the equestrian events, as well as cross-country and the modern pentathlon.  They were in the process of tearing it down or cleaning it up.  AND they had John Deere tractors on site (yay QC!).  When we finally made it up the hill (we got our exercise for the day), we found our way around to an incredible view of the town, Olympic Park, and River Thames.  We did the touristy thing and stood with one foot in each hemisphere and took pictures, then we headed back down the hill (a different, faster way) that led right to the National Maritime Museum.  We didn't go in, but they had a nice giant ship in a bottle!  After that, we finally hit up the famous Greenwich Markets.  We saw a lot of neat vendors, selling everything from clothes, bags, jewelry, accessories, soap, pictures, wooden carvings, metal bending, antiques, glasses, fur, etc.  It was insane how eclectic the booths were there.  I ended up buying a big super soft white scarf (which I have been wanting forever!) and some pad Thai for lunch.  We went to Starbucks and I got a pumpkin spice latte! (Side note- they finally have it here! and this year is the first time they have had it over here, so I feel super special.  and I'm really happy about it)  We hopped back on the train and went into Covent Gardens to wander a bit and try and find a tea store. And we did, and we had lots of free samples of delicious teas.  Now I really need to buy a tea basket so I can make some proper loose-leaf teas!  We went into a few others stores, shops, and another market before heading home.  We spent the rest of the night at the pub with friends! It was a good night, even if it was raining!
