Yesterday we set off to explore the nearby town of Richmond. It's a lot bigger then Twickenham, and has a lot more things to do. It's also unbelievably beautiful! There are lots of huge, fancy houses that were definitely a little pricey, and lots of shops! We stopped by a three-story book store and finally went to a Top Shop (a London original), but the prices were a little much for my budget! We also found a movie theater and the cutest little tea shop, which we decided we will have to visit sometime! We walked up to Richmond Hill, which we heard had beautiful views, and it did not disappoint. We continued down the hill into a park and stopped at a little cafe for a water and snack break. It was probably one of the cutest places ever, and they had delicious food! The park was full of families, couples, and people out with their dogs. We made it down to the bottom of the hill and took a secret tunnel under the road to the riverside park. We walked along the river for a while, watching all of the boaters, kayak-ers, and canoe-ers. The path was quite busy on a nice Saturday afternoon, and we had to watch out for cyclists! They were everywhere, and not very yielding to pedestrians! We stumbled upon the Ham House, which is a mansion that was owned by royalty (I can't remember which one), but didn't go inside because it was not free, and we are poor study abroad students. So we made our way back into town to catch the next train out. Along the way, we explored the riverwalk full of restaurants, ice cream stands, painters, and people. We all decided that we needed to marry rich men so that we could move to Richmond! It seems like such a picture perfect place to live!
